The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
[SI 1992 No 2793]

Explanatory notes are provided with the Statutory Instrument.

Requires employers so far as is reasonably practical, to avoid the need for employees to undertake manual handling operations at work which involve a risk of their being injured. Where it is not reasonably practicable to avoid this need then an assessment of these operations must be undertaken to reduce the risk to the lowest level reasonably practicable and information about the loads to be carried must be provided to employers.

Requires employees to make full and proper use of systems of work provided by employers in compliance with the regulations.
